Madame Marie |
|
| Madame Marie is probably one of the most famous fortune tellers in rock music history. Bruce's album "The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle" includes his homage to Asbury Park called "Fourth of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)." | |
| |
In those lyrics is the line- "Did you hear the cops finally busted Madame Marie for tellin' fortunes better than they do?" Madame Marie (Costello) has been telling fortunes since the mid 1930s, and still keeps the lease on her small boardwalk shop. However, she currently can be found telling fortunes in Ocean Township. |
| The bandshell above the Howard Johnsons can be seen in the background behind Madame Marie's. |
