Mrs. Ruby Abernathy, 80, of 29 Akin Drive, Cartersville, passed away Wednesday, April 09, 2003 at her home. She was born in Bartow County on May 14, 1922, the daughter of the late George Dave Tanner and Lizzie Jones Tanner.
She was a member of the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dewitt Abernathy; three sons and daughters-on-law, Doyle and Edna Abernathy, Troy and Jenny Abernathy and Stevie and Cathy Abernathy; all of Cartersville; five grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, beginning at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Revs Elihue Abernathy, Donnie Summey and Francis Summey officiating. Interment will follow in Old Macedonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Lamar, Dewayne, Darrell, Dustin and Forrest Abernathy; and Derek Lanham and Marion Summey.
