Oliver (Buck) Abernathy of E. Iron Belt Road, Cartersville, died Tuesday, February 26, 1991.
He was born January 15, 1928 in Bartow County, a son of the late Elihue and Nevada Howell Abernathy, was employed by Tom Akins Electric and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Louis Cox Abernathy of Cartersville; two sons, Michael and Ronnie R. Abernathy; four grandchildren; three brothers, Odie, Melvin and DeWitt Abernathy, two sisters, Connie Sanford and Bonnie Waits, all of Cartersville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Elihue Abernathy and Elder Jerry Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in Old Macedonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom Akins, Derrick Cochran, Ronnie Abernathy, Gene Cantrell, Tommy Akins, and Ward Burrows.

Louise Cox Abernathy, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. Mrs. Abernathy was born on December 11, 1935 in Cuero, TX, daughter of the late Ernest Louis Cox and Sally Abernathy Cox. Mrs. Abernathy loved being in the outdoors, camping, deer and turkey hunting and fishing. Her family was her world and she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Abernathy is preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Oliver "Buck" Abernathy; brothers, Clay Cox, Frank Cox and Ernest Cox; sister, Christine Hartsfield. Survivors include her sons, Michael (Virginia) Abernathy and Ronnie (Anita) Abernathy; grandchildren, Ray (Janice) Abernathy, Allen (Melissa) Abernathy, Brian Abernathy, Janna (Josue) Chun; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny Cox, Herbert Cox; sister, Bessie Baker; several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, 9th of August, 2019 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Josh James officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Old Macedonia Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ray Abernathy, Allen Abernathy, Brian Abernathy, Tony Sanford, Joe Meeks and Josue Chun.
